CM flags off Bharat Darshan Yatra of class X toppers of Uttarakhand board

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off the Bharat Darshan Yatra- the educational tour programme of the class X toppers at the education directorate on Monday. A total of 157 students are on the educational tour. Addressing a programme on the occasion the CM said that many measures taken by Uttarakhand are proving to be the best practices in the country. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address on November 9 had mentioned these measures taken by the Uttarakhand government.
He said that the state government has decided to send group meritorious students on an education tour of different States of the country. “The first batch is embarking on a tour of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana and Delhi. This tour is a new chapter in the education scenario of the State. Our students will be our brand ambassadors and will inform people of other States about sacred rivers, temples, weather and tourism,’’ he said.
The CM said that the State government has started the winter Char Dham Yatra and now the pilgrims can have Darshans of the deities in their winter abodes.
He wished the people on the start of Indian languages week and said that it will ignite a sense of Indianness within us. Dhami said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made nine requests to the people of Uttarakhand and conserving one’s local language is one of them.
Speaking on the occasion, the education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that Uttarakhand is the first State in the country where two toppers of every block are taken for an educational tour.
The meritorious students will visit NIT and IIMs and will also meet the chief minister and governor of the state during the tour. Rawat said that Uttarakhand is among top ten States in the country in making APAAR ID. He claimed that APAAR ID of 45 per cent students in the State has been made. The minister announced that apart from providing free textbooks, the State government will also provide free notebooks to the students from next academic session.
MLAs Umesh Sharma Kau, Khajan Das, Savita Kapoor, secretary Ravinath Raman, director general (DG) education Jharna Kamthan and other officers were present on the occasion.
