In latest news from Doon, while greeting the people of Uttarakhand on the occasion of Harela festival, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stressed that this festival encapsulates the State’s cultural heritage that lovingly and reverentially embraces environment. “This festival not just highlights the importance of greenery and prosperity but also exhorts us to take care of the saplings we plant with loving care. The celebration of this festival has become all the more important in view of the global warming adversely affecting life across the world. Tree plantation and protection of environment are the twin objectives Harela embodies,” he said.
Dwelling on the special responsibility reposed in Uttarakhand in this matter, Dhami said that the State fascinates people because of its spiritual, religious, cultural and natural richness “This aside, Uttarakhand houses an abundance of bio-diversity,” he said, adding that the people must vow to protect all these for the upcoming generations.
