CM honours families of freedom fighters & martyrs

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami felicitated the family members of freedom fighters and martyrs at a programme held as part of the Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign in Gucchupani here on Sunday.

Dhami said that under Prime Ministe Narendra Modi’s foresighted leadership, he had the opportunity to honour those who had sacrified their lives for the nation. PM Modi has given five pledges to the citizens- making India a developed nation, getting rid of slave mentality, taking pride in and conserving India’s rich heritage and ensuring the unity and integrity of the nation. Dhami also administered these pledges to the gathering on the occasion.

He said that the Modi government is modernising the armed forces on the one hand while on the other hand it is also focusing on the facilities and welfare of the soldiers and their families. Under PM Modi’s guidance, the State government is also committed to enhancing the facilities provided to soldiers and their families, said the CM. He also spoke about the various measures taken by the State government to enhance the welfare of soldiers and their dependents along with freedom fighters and their widows.

 
Soldier Welfare minister Ganesh Joshi said that the inscription unveiled by the CM at Gucchupani on Sunday displays the names of 33 martyrs and freedom fighters. He said that the Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign is dedicated to the braves who sacrificed for the nation. Cabinet minister Prem Chand Agrawal, MLA Savita Kapoor and Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ were also among those present on the occasion.
