CM inaugurates Durga temple in Nanakmatta

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated a temple dedicated to the Mother Durga at Bengali Colony in Nanakmatta in Udham Singh Nagar district. He further announced on the occasion that a mini master plan is being firmed up for the development of Nanakmatta and beautification of the temple. In his inaugural address, the CM lauded the role of Bengal in giving a new direction to India at a critical juncture of the nation’s history. He particularly mentioned the contributions of Raja Rammohan Roy, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Swami Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore to the renaissance of India, adding that Bengal had left deep imprints in the multiple realms of art, culture, literature and spiritualism.

The CM said that some of the longstanding demands of the Bengali community people settled in Uttarakhand had been met by his government. He added that the mention of East Pakistan had been dropped from the birth documents of the children of the Bengali settlers and they had been given ownership rights over government lands. He further announced that a Banga Bhavan would be established in Rudrapur. This aside, a memorial on the horrors of the country’s partition would also come up, he added.
