CM inaugurates fairs at Srinagar, Gauchar and Jauljibi

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Vaikunth Chaturdashi Mela at Srinagar in Pauri district, the 72 government industrial development and cultural fair at Gauchar in Chamoli district and the Jauljibi fair in Pithoragarh district on Thursday. Dhami made various announcements and launched development works on the occasion.  Speaking at Srinagar, the CM first paid obeisance at the Kamleshwar Mahadev temple. Addressing the gathering at the fair, he said that this historical fair is part of the State’s heritage. Recalling that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stated that the third decade of this century will belong to Uttarakhand, he said that the State government is working consistently to fulfill this vision. Masterplans worth crores of rupees are being executed in Badrinath and Kedarnath while completion of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project underway will further strengthen connectivity in the mountains. He said that work on the critical care unit costing Rs 25 crore is underway in the Srinagar medical college while a roadways bus station and parking has been constructed at a cost of Rs 4.88 crore in Srinagar. The local MLA and cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat pursues all the aspects needed for the development of the region, he said.

Addressing the gathering at Gauchar, the CM said that this fair is a combination of culture, market and industry. The organisation of this fair which has been held for more than 70 years is a matter of pride for the State, he said. Dhami said that such fairs have a special place in the lives of people as they play a role in maintaining traditions while providing entertainment and enabling social interactions. He said that under PM Modi’s leadership, the nation’s cultural heritage is being revived on the one hand while initiatives like vocal for local and make in India are boosting the local entrepreneurs and industry. Dhami said that the State government aims to stop the migration from the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand by boosting the livelihood of the locals and enhancing facilities available to them. Referring to the Gauchar air service recently started, he said that this will boost connectivity and strengthen tourism and the local economy.

Inaugurating the Jauljibi fair, the CM also launched 18 development works worth Rs 64.47 crore. Referring to the fair as a unique heritage of the State, the CM said that it also boosts cordial relations in the Indo-Tibet and Indo-Nepal border regions. Stating that this region has had long standing links with Tibet and Nepal, Dhami said that the relations with Nepal have further improved under PM Modi’s leadership.
