CM inaugurates millet bakery outlet in secretariat

In latest news from Dehradun, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated a millet bakery outlet inside the secretariat premises in the city. He said in his address that this inauguration would go a long way in promoting the production and consumption of coarse grains and subsequently enhancing the income of the millet growers as well as the all-women self-help groups engaged in millet production and promotion activities. He further said that the production volume of the local produces like mandua, jhangora and chaulai is looking up at the initiative of the all-women self-help groups, adding that two more millet bakery outlets have been inaugurated-one in Raipur block of Dehradun district and the other in Pauri block of Pauri district. These bakeries are processing coarse grains like mandua and jhangora into bread, biscuit and pizza base among others, he said and added that the State government has been taking initiatives to promote coarse grains in view of this year being observed as the International Year of Millets at the behest of the United Nations. The State agriculture and farmer welfare minister Ganesh Joshi was also present at the millet bakery inaugural programme.
