CM inaugurates new OT & emergency blocks in GDMC

ASHA workers backbone of the health system: Dhami

 The newly constructed Operation Theatre (OT) and the emergency blocks of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) were inaugurated by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday. He also inaugurated the ASHA Sangini portal on the occasion.

Speaking at a programme organised on the occasion he said that Uttarakhand is a State with adverse climatic conditions and the ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers are the backbone of the health services of the State. He expressed hope that the ASHA Sangini portal would help and encourage all 12,018 ASHA workers of the State. He said that the portal has been launched to ensure that the payment of the ASHA workers is made in time and it would also help the department to evaluate and monitor their work. He opined that the portal would help in effective and lucid transfer of services to the ASHA workers.

 The CM said that the priority of the State government is to ensure that the quality health services are available to the people residing in the remote and mountainous locations.

 Speaking on the occasion the Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the ASHA Sangini portal has been launched to make the work of ASHA workers easy. He said that tabs have been provided to six thousand ASHA workers and remaining workers would be handed over the tabs soon. The minister said that ASHA Samwad programmes would be organised in every block of the State. He said that the State Health department has taken ten targets in the health sector which would be completed before the year 2025.

He said that GDMC hospital can now treat 3,000 patients in a day.

 The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, MLAs Khajan Das, Dilip Singh Rawat, Health secretary R Rajesh Kumar, GDMC  principal Dr Ashutosh Sayana and others were also present on the occasion.
