CM inaugurates six new police stations and 20 posts

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday virtually inaugurated six new police stations and 20 police posts established in five districts of the State from the secretariat in Dehradun. A total of 661 villages come under these newly established police stations and 696 villages under 20 police posts which have been established to bring the revenue villages under the purview of the regular policing system.
The six police stations are Yamkeshwar police station in Pauri, Chham police station in Tehri, Ghat police station in Chamoli, Khansyu police station in Nainital and Deghat and Dhaulchina police stations in Almora. The new police posts are established in Lakhamandal in Dehradun, Birokhal in Pauri, Gaja, Kandikhal and Chamiala in Tehri, Nauti, Narayanbagad and Urgam in Chamoli, Chopta and Durgadhar in Rudraprayag, Saankri and Dhauntri in Uttarkashi, Okhalkanda, Dhanachuli, Haidakhan and Dhari in Nainital, Majkhali, Jageshwar and Bhaunkhal in Almora and Barakot in Champawat.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhami said that the government is making arrangements to introduce regular police to replace revenue police across the State as per the requirement in a phased manner. He said that the police system is the mirror of the law and order of the State and that the police are the ones responsible for maintaining security, law and order. The police will have to continuously work on subjects related to public interest apart from their regular duties. He also said that people’s perceptions about the police have considerably improved since the Covid-19 period and the work being done by the police across the State for social service is also commendable. He also stressed that the police need to work consistently to make Uttarakhand a drug-free state by 2025. The additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, director general of police Ashok Kumar and SSPs of respective districts along with other officials were also present during the inauguration.
