CM kicks off bypoll campaign with road show in Champawat

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami kicked off his campaign for the Champawat by-election by holding a major road show in Champawat on Thursday.
He also addressed a public meeting on the occasion in which he thanked the people for showing great enthusiasm. The CM said that people and leaders of 27 assembly constituencies had given an offer but he chose Champawat by the grace and blessings of the Goddess Purnagiri and Sharda for contesting the by election.
The CM also made a slew of announcements for the people of the constituency from where he is all set to contest the by elections for an entry in the fifth elected assembly of the state. He said that Champawat would be made a centre of modern agriculture, horticulture and tea cultivation. The CM said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has got a special affinity for Uttarakhand and under his guidance many schemes of social welfare are underway. He said that free ration is being distributed to 60 lakh people in the state under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana. He told the gathering that soon a satellite centre of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) would come up at a place which would be less than a drive of one and half hours. He said that approval of a budget of Rs 29 crore has been given for the survey of Tanakpur- Bageshwar rail line. Dhami said that the proposed Khatima By pass would save travel time of people of Champawat and Pithoragarh. He reiterated the commitment of his government to implement Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand and said that soon a draft for this would be prepared. Dhami said that soon three cylinders per year would be given to the poor free of cost. He added that his government is working on the mantra of simplification, solution and disposal and the government in its second tenure has increased the old age pension, disability pension and stipend of the sanitation workers.
The Lok Sabha MP from Almora- Pithoragarh Ajay Tamta, former MLA Kailash Gehtodi, MLA Ram Singh Kaida, Shiv Arora and others were present in the meeting.
