CM launches 74 development projects worth Rs 188.07 crore in Dehradun

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation for 74 development projects worth Rs 188.07 crore at Kanak Chowk in Dehradun on Sunday. The initiatives included 36 projects valued at Rs 111.22 crore which were inaugurated and 38 projects worth Rs 76.85 crore for which the foundation stones were laid. The CM launched these projects during the foundation laying event for two automated parking facilities and one ground-level parking in Kanak Chowk area, all estimated to cost about Rs 11 crore. He also flagged off three rescue and rehabilitation vehicles aimed at tackling child begging and inaugurated a document management desk at the Dehradun district magistrate’s office.
In his address, Dhami said that the inaugurated and upcoming projects, covering sectors like education, health, roads, drinking water, irrigation, flood protection and urban development, will significantly improve the lives of people in Dehradun and surrounding areas. He stated that the new parking facilities, especially the automated and ground-level parking, will help alleviate traffic congestion in crowded areas, saving both time and resources. The rescue vehicles launched as part of the anti-child begging initiative will also play a crucial role in rehabilitating children found begging on the streets. The introduction of the document management desk at the DM’s office will also streamline the tracking and management of incoming correspondence, he said. He said that the newly launched electric vehicle charging stations will provide convenience to residents with electric vehicles and contribute to the city’s environmental conservation efforts. “The process of setting up charging stations at seven other locations in Dehradun is currently underway. With the launch of these initiatives, the government is committed to making Dehradun free from air pollution, further supporting the city’s status as one of the top five cleanest cities in the country, as recognised under the National Clean Air Programme by the Ministry of Environment, Government of India,” he said.
Dhami also informed that the establishment of smart schools along with a modern library with a seating capacity for 650 readers at Lansdowne Chowk has also been completed. “To promote environmental conservation, 30 electric buses are now operating in Dehradun. The government is also constructing a 300-bed cancer hospital in Harrawala. The mental health institute at Selaqui has also been upgraded. These efforts are aimed at transforming Dehradun into a model city” he added.
