Directs officials to complete construction of GDMC by September
Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat inaugurated the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) programme here on Sunday. He said that this free vaccination programme has been started in the entire state. The government of India is conducting PCV as a campaign and this vaccination campaign will also be conducted in the villages, he said.
The vaccine is being administered to children to protect them from pneumococcal pneumonia and brain infection. A total of three shots are being administered to the children as part of the vaccination. The first shot is administered when the child is six weeks old, second at 14 weeks and the booster dose at nine months. The ailment afflicts children aged below five years especially those aged under two years.
Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal, MLAs Khajan Das, Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ and health director general Dr Tripti Bahuguna were also present on the occasion. Later, the chief minister visited the under construction building of the government Doon medical college. He expressed dissatisfaction at the slow pace of construction and directed officials of the executing agency to complete the construction by the month of September. There should be no compromise with the quality of construction, he stressed.
