Process of identification of statehood activists to be reinitiated, free medical treatment facility & pension for dependents of statehood martyrs

The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced many sops for the statehood activists on the 27th anniversary of the Khatima incident on Wednesday. He said that the process of identification of statehood activists would be re-started and free medical and treatment facilities would be provided to them in the government medical colleges on the lines of the state government employees.

 Dhami said that in the state the identification of statehood activists has not been done since July 2018 and the state government would now release a Government Order (GO) for resuming the process of identification. Under the new plan the statehood activists would be identified till December 31, 2021. The CM made this announcement at Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar district on Wednesday. He paid floral tributes at Martyrs memorial in Khatima on the day.  The CM paid homage to the martyrs of the statehood movement and felicitated the family members of the martyrs on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion the CM said that he is having a sense of pride after honouring the family members of the martyrs. He said that the state of Uttarakhand owes its genesis to the martyrdoms at Khatima, Mussoorie and Rampur Tiraha. Dhami said that the state government is committed to develop Uttarakhand as per the aspirations of the statehood activists. He said that the government is working in the direction of fulfilling what the statehood activists had dreamt about employment, roads and education. He claimed that Uttarakhand would be made an ideal state in the country in the next ten years.

The CM said that statehood activists are provided certificates by the government. He said that a pension of Rs 3100 per month is given to the statehood activists and now this pension would be provided to their dependents after their death.

He said that the state government would file a review petition in the high court (HC) to reconsider its decision of removing the statehood activists from different departments of government. Dhami also assured that arrangements for jobs to the statehood activists on priority basis in the industry would be made. He added that the other demands of the statehood activists would also be considered.
