CM meets Rail minister, discusses projects

The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met the Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi on Tuesday and expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand for his initiative in laying railway tracks between Roorkee and Deoband. He also congratulated the Union Minister for the successful breakthrough of India’s longest rail tunnel (Devprayag-Janasu) under the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project.
Other proposed projects which figured during the meeting included Vande Bharat from Tanakpur in Champawat district to New Delhi. Besides, the CM requested Vaishnaw to ensure an increase in the frequency of trains from Tanakpur to Dehradun. A request was also made for the declaration of the Tanakpur-Bageshwar rail project as a national project with the Centre bearing the whole expenditure involved.
Further, he urged the Union minister to ensure that the rights of the land of the old railway station of Rishikesh are transferred to the State government to be used for the multipurpose development works being done in the Rishikesh-Ganga corridor.
