CM monitoring rescue & relief efforts in disaster hit Tehri villages

Following the two deaths and considerable damage caused following heavy rains and landslides in the Balganga and Budhakedar areas of Bhilangana block in Tehri district on Saturday, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been in touch with the Ghansali MLA Shakti Lal Shah and Tehri district magistrate Mayur Dixit regarding the rescue and relief operations. The CM has directed the district administration that in addition to Tingarh village, the other vulnerable villages in the disaster affected area should be identified and the affected people should be shifted to safe locations without delay. The officials have also been directed to shift the cattle and other domesticated animals of the locals to safe locations.

The district magistrate informed that two persons had died in the Toli village of Balganga area. Cheques for compensation, amounting to Rs four lakh each for the deaths and Rs 1.35 lakh for the damage to the home were presented to the bereaved family on Saturday. Further, cheques for Rs 57,500 were provided to the owners for the death of two cattle. Dixit further informed that Tingarh village was evacuated on Saturday and the villagers were shifted to the temporary relief camp at government inter college, Binakkhal, where all necessary arrangements have been made for them. A joint team of officials of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Health, Revenue, Horticulture, Social Welfare and Cooperatives departments has been formed to survey and assess the damage caused to roads, farmland, drinking water and power lines in the disaster affected villages of Toli, Jakhana, Koti, Vishan, Thati Budhakedar, Pinswad, Urani, Agunda and other villages, the DM added.
