CM monitors rescue operation, directs coordinated efforts

Even as the rescuers work round the clock to rescue the 40 workers stranded in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has continued to seek regular updates from the officials about the condition of the workers and the rescue efforts. The CM took the latest updates also from officials of the agencies involved in the relief and rescue efforts. Chairing a meeting with senior officials of the State administration at his residence on Tuesday, the CM directed them to maintain constant coordination with the district administration officials at the site and the agencies working in the rescue and relief efforts. Any requirement of relief material should be met without delay, he stressed.
Experts in the team headed by the director of Uttarakhand Landslide Mitigation and Management Centre formed on the instructions of the Chief Minister have also reached the site and started their inspection to ascertain the reasons for the incident. The officials further informed that the relief and rescue efforts are being undertaken on a war footing. Additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, special principal secretary Abhinav Kumar, secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagauli, Vinay Shankar Pandey, ADG AP Anshuman and Information director general Banshidhar Tiwari were also present in the meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.
