CM orders inspection of all residential educational institutes

Taking cognisance of the case of sexual harassment of a visually impaired girl in Gaulapar in Haldwani, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the State administration to undertake extensive inspection of the residential educational institutions of the State. On his orders the additional chief secretary (ACS) Radha Raturi has directed all the district magistrates (DMs) and senior superintendents of Police (SSPs) to act on the issue. She said that the DMs should constitute a team of officers of department concerned and Police and inspect the residential educational institutes. She said that an awareness campaign should also be launched for the students of these schools. Raturi said that legal action should be initiated if some case of sexual harassment or abuse comes in the notice of the team. She directed that the districts should send the report of the visits and the awareness campaign to the State government within a month.

 In the case involving sexual harassment of a visually impaired girl the Nainital Police arrested the general secretary of National association for the blind Shyam Dhanak on Friday. Taking serious note of the case the CM has given orders for inspection of all residential educational institutes operational in the State.
