Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed warm blankets to the destitute and slum dwellers in the ISBT area late on Tuesday evening. Dhami directed the officials to shift all the vulnerable citizens to Rain Baseras without delay. He also made a surprise visit to the Rain Basera at Transport Nagar, checked the arrangements and interacted with those staying in the shelter.
Interacting with the citizens while distributing the warm blankets, the CM sought their feedback about the facilities being provided by the administration. He directed the officials to facilitate warm blankets, warm clothing and bonfires to provide relief to the citizens from the cold. Arrangements should also be made to protect travellers from the cold at the ISBT, he said. Visiting the Rain Basera, Dhami sat along with the workers in front of a bonfire and directed the officials to ensure necessary facilities at the shelter. He said that those living on the roadside and homeless families should also be shifted to the Rain Baseras. The children, handicapped persons, women and the ailing should be shifted immediately to Rain Baseras, the CM said. Dhami also directed the officials to ensure the distribution of warm blankets to the needy within the set time frame, adding that it is the government’s priority to ensure that no citizen in the State is afflicted by the cold.
