PWD preparing SOP to ensure quality of works
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that a survey of the dark spots on the roads of the State should be done and necessary actions should be taken for prevention of accidents. He said this while chairing a review meeting of the Public Works Department (PWD), National Highways (NH), and Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at the State secretariat on Monday. In the meeting, the CM said that the Manaskhand project is the flagship scheme of the State government, and the work on it should be expedited. He said that the work on the Bajrang Setu should be completed within the stipulated time frame of December 2022. On a stern note, the CM said that the final format of all the decisions to be taken should be prepared and the meeting should yield results. He said that sign boards mentioning the speed limits should be placed on all the bridges and flyovers and they should have proper arrangement of the drainage. The CM said that work on setting up crush barriers on the Yatra route should be expedited and the patch works should be done at a faster pace. He suggested that work on a treatment plan in the landslide zones should be taken up with seriousness and for it, proposals under the disaster mitigation should be prepared wherever possible.
Dhami advised that a detailed note on the points associated with the Union government level in the projects should be prepared and all the works related to the State administration should be completed in time.
He said that work on the Jyolikot to Karnprayag road should be expedited to increase the connectivity between the Garhwal and Kumaon regions of the State. The CM said that a meeting of the Urban development, housing, and PWD should be convened on the status of the roads of the State. He opined that the use of best practices should be made along with ensuring the work quality.
In the meeting, the officers informed that the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are being prepared for ensuring the quality of the works.
The meeting was attended by the PWD minister Satpal Maharaj, additional chief secretary (ACS) Radha Raturi, principal secretary R K Sudhanshu, secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram and officers of PWD, NH, and BRO.
