CM presents compensation to Jamrani dam affected families

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami presented Rs 195 crore in compensation to 494 families affected by the Jamrani multipurpose dam project here on Tuesday.  The amount was transferred online into their bank accounts while the compensation to the remaining out of the total 1,267 project affected families will be deposited soon into their accounts after verification. The CM also laid the foundation of and inaugurated 18 developmental projects costing Rs 17,218 lakh in the district on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the CM thanked the families affected by the Jamrani project for dedicating their future to this project to enable the better future of the State and its people. About 300 acre land has been allocated free to the Irrigation department at Gadariyabagh village in Prayag Farm area of Udham Singh Nagar district to resettle the affected families, he said, while adding that all round development will be ensured in this area too. Dhami said that the 117 MLD water from Jamrani project will be supplied to Haldwani city considering its projected population in 2051. The construction of the project will boost groundwater level and also generate employment. While drinking water will be supplied to Haldwani, irrigation water will be supplied to farmers in Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts. “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, development works worth Rs 2,000 crore are being undertaken in Haldwani city and soon this city will develop into a grand and major city,” he said.

The CM further informed that the Jamrani dam project will be completed by 2029. Apart from such major projects, the State government is also focusing on education, health, tourism, child development, women development and connectivity. A special environment is being provided for investors in the State. The CM also said that local products are being encouraged across India and abroad which is making the local people financially stronger. In the Kumaon region, the State government has approved eight acre land for the expansion of the Pantnagar airpot which will be developed to international standards. Domestic and international flights will start operating from this airport in the near level, the CM said.

Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar MP Ajay Bhatt, cabinet ministers Subodh Uniyal, Satpal Maharaj, MLAs Banshidhar Bhagat and Ram Singh Kaida were also among those present on the occasion.
