CM re-launches fortified milk scheme for Anganwadi children

The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami re-launched the Mukhyamantri Anchal Amrit Yojana (MAAY) by offering fortified milk to 11 children in a programme here on Thursday. The scheme was started in the year 2019 but had to be discontinued due to the pandemic of Covid-19. Under the scheme milk would be provided to 1.70 lakh children of Anganbadi centres four times a week.
Speaking on the occasion Dhami said that the scheme would help in providing sufficient nutrition to the children. He said that the pandemic affected every sector and this scheme too remained non operational during this period. He said that a total of one lakh pregnant and 85,000 feeding mothers would benefit from the Mukhyamantri Poshan Yojana. He said that he is aware of the problems faced by the Anganwadi workers and their working conditions because both his sons had studied in Anganwadi centres. He assured that a proposal regarding the remuneration of Anganwadi workers would be brought in the state cabinet.
The CM said that the government has given a sum of Rs 1,000 on Rakshabandhan and an incentive of Rs 2,000 per month for five months for their services during the pandemic period. He said that the state government is committed to solve the problem of everyone and cited the examples of increase in remuneration of village Pradhans, grade pay issue of police personnel, UPNL workers and employees of power corporations in this regard.
The Women Empowerment and Child Development minister Rekha Arya said that the scheme would help in removing the problem of malnutrition among children in the state.
Informing about the MAAY, secretary HC Semwal said that children between three to six years of age would be provided fortified milk in all the Anganwadi centres four times a week.
Anchal managing director Jaideep Arora said that 10 grammes milk powder per child would be provided four times a week and from this powder 100 ml of milk would be prepared. The milk would be fortified with vitamin A and D. A sum of Rs 6.33 crore would be spent on the scheme per year.
Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma Kau and a large number of Anganwadi workers were also present on the occasion.
The CM declared that the process of selection of Anganwadi workers would be made online for increasing transparency. He said that the process of Tilu Rauteli prizes would also be made online.
