Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated a new QR code designed to enable quick and convenient reporting of faulty street lights under the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD). At a time when various issues are being raised regarding urbanisation in the provisional State capital, the copies of this QR code will be placed on street light poles within the corporation’s jurisdiction to enable residents to report issues by scanning the code.
Dhami launched the facility during a cleanliness event at Race Course, Dehradun on the eve of Uttarakhand’s Foundation Day on Friday. He also swept a stretch of a road to promote the message of cleanliness. Dhami said that cleanliness drives and service activities were being conducted across the State in memory of the victims of the recent bus accident in Marchula, Almora.
He expressed his condolences, praying for peace for the souls of the deceased and for the speedy recovery of the injured. Reflecting on the progress of the Swachchh Bharat Mission initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi 10 years ago, Dhami highlighted the increased awareness of cleanliness across the country. He also urged residents to integrate cleanliness into their daily routines, contributing to keeping the State pristine. As Uttarakhand prepares to enter its silver jubilee year, marking 25 years since its formation, the CM reflected on the substantial progress made with public cooperation across various sectors. He emphasised that the State government, with public support, is implementing short, medium and long-term plans to make this Uttarakhand’s decade.
