Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed the officials concerned to prioritise cleanliness in preparation for the 38th National Games starting on January 28. He said this during his inspection of Maharana Pratap stadium, where he reviewed the arrangements for the inauguration of the games alongside Sports minister Rekha Arya here on Saturday.
During the inspection, the CM directed officials to enhance all arrangements for the convenience of players and visitors. He emphasised the importance of maintaining cleanliness and instructed that LED screens be set up at the district and block levels to facilitate live telecasts for the public. Dhami said that this is a golden opportunity for Uttarakhand to improve its image on a national scale and promote sports within the State. He highlighted that this could lead to increased youth interest in sports and, with improved sports infrastructure, more competitions could be held in the future. The State government will also provide an amount equal to the prize money for players representing Uttarakhand who win medals at the Games, he said.
Further, Dhami urged officials to ensure public participation in making the National Games a grand event. He called for the organisation of a Deepotsav and other public participation programmes on the occasion of the Games’ inauguration. The CM also instructed officials to facilitate smooth arrangements at all sports venues in the state in light of the National Games. Proper transportation, accommodation, healthcare facilities and other essential needs must be ensured for both players and visitors.
In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit for the inauguration of the National Games, Dhami instructed the police and administration to make all necessary arrangements. He emphasised that citizens should not face unnecessary difficulties. He asked the police officials to communicate route plans effectively. Proper parking arrangements must also be secured, he added.
