CM tells officials to form cyber security task force in State

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with the officials concerned regarding the malware which has affected the State data centre. Dhami said that the scanning in the State data centre should be completed at the earliest and the websites of departments related to public welfare should be restored as early as possible. A couple of days after a virus was identified in the governmental cyber network, leading to the closing down of most State governmental networks as the authorities conducted checks, Dhami said that such an incident should not be repeated. A cyber security task force should be formed at the earliest for ensuring the security of online services and government websites, he said. The cooperation of the top agencies of the Central Government working in the IT sector should be sought to further improve the security of the State’s data centre. A safety audit of the State data centre and online sites of the State government should be undertaken soon, the CM said.

Dhami said that a disaster recovery centre should be established for recovery of online data in various departments and for the security of online platforms. The best practices of States, ministries and agencies performing well in cyber security should be studied and implemented in Uttarakhand, the CM said.It is pertinent to mention here that after a suspected intrusion of a virus in the State government’s cyber network, the Information Technology Development Agency, downed the system and conducted safety checks. The officials claim that all the data is secure and that the system will resume normal operations by Sunday.
