Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that power corporations will have to work in coordination with full activeness in order to make Uttarakhand an ‘Energy State’. Dhami said this after officials of the Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (PTCUL) presented a cheque for Rs 11 crore as dividend to the State government at his camp office on Sunday. The corporation’s managing director PC Dhyani presented the cheque to the CM.
Addressing the officials on the occasion, Dhami said that making Uttarakhand an energy State was one of the major aims behind the foundation of Uttarakhand as a separate State. The State government is working consistently in the spheres of energy and renewable energy. The government is aiming to reach a point in the next five years wherein the energy production is according to the demand in the State. Works are being undertaken at a swift pace towards making Uttarakhand self-reliant in the energy sector, he said. The CM also directed PTCUL officials to expedite the work on the five new sub-stations for which the corporation had laid the foundation stones in September this year.
Dhyani said that under the CM’s guidance, PTCUL had earned a profit of Rs 141.67 crore in financial year 2023-24 compared to Rs 26.99 crore profit in 2022-23. The corporation had given Rs five crore dividend to the State government each year during the past three years. The MD further informed that PTCUL’s transmission availability is presently 99.70 per cent which is higher than the national standard of 98 per cent. Due to this, one-third of the incentive amount received by the corporation is being given directly as rebate in electricity tariff, benefitting the consumers.
Additional secretary Manmohan Mainali, PTCUL director GS Badiyal and other officials were also present on the occasion.
