CM transfers Rs 174.60 Cr to bank accounts of panchayat bodies

All the 7791 Panchayats in the state are linked with the PFMS platform of online transfer of funds

In pursuance with the Digital India policy propounded by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat digitally transferred a sum of Rs 174.60 Crore to the bank accounts of three tier Panchayati Raj system on Wednesday. The amount includes an untied grant of Rs 143.50 Crore from the 15th Finance commission and state finance commission and Rs 31.10 Crore of the grant of month of January for the Panchayats. 

CM Rawat said that the digital transfer of the grant to the bank accounts of the Panchayats would help in timely completion of the development works. The secretary Panchayati Raj, H C Semwal said that Rs 117.27 Crores was digitally transferred to Village Panchayats, Rs 21.58 Crore to the Chhetriya Panchayats and Rs 35.74 Crores to District Panchayats by CM Rawat through Public Finance Management System (PFMS). He said that the ministry of Panchayati Raj, government of India has appreciated the initiative taken by Uttarakhand in digitally transferring the grants to Panchayats. He added that the joint secretary Khushwant Singh Sethi has appealed to the states to follow the example of Uttarakhand and start digital transfer of grants.  It is worth mentioning here that all 7791 Panchayats in the state are linked with the PFMS platform of online transfer of funds. The Panchayats would use the amount for various development and other projects in the rural areas of the state. The Panchayat representatives can get all the information about the budget received from central and state finance commission and other sources on their smartphones and other devices and details of the developmental activity in the Panchayats.
