In latest news from Uttarakhand, with wildfire still ravaging forest in Kumaon and Garhwal regions, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami arrived in Rudraprayag and held a meeting on the pirul collection mission. Notably, pirul or dried pine needles are highly inflammable and are one of the major causes of the forest blaze in the State. To mitigate the possibility of wildfire through pirul collection, the State government has announced that it would pay Rs 50 for every kg of pirul collected and deposited at the pirul collection centres. For this purpose, it has kept aside a corpus of Rs 50 crore.
The CM urged the youth and women mangal dals and self- help groups to participate in the pirul collection mission in a big way.
