CM visits avalanche injured, 8 workers still buried, rescue ops on

PNS/ JYOTIRMATH
In latest news from Uttarakhand, a day after the massive avalanche had hit the border village Mana near Badrinath, burying 55 labourers engaged in the Army’s road construction project, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the Army Hospital in Jyotirmath and met those workers rescued and admitted to the hospital. So far, 47 trapped workers have been rescued and eight are reportedly still missing. Army, ITBP, NDRF and SDRF teams have been getting on with the rescue operation, battling the adverse climate with non-stop snowfall and rain coupled with the treacherous high-altitude Himalayan terrain. The CM said that all-out efforts were being made, braving the inimical climate, to rescue those still buried under the snow.
The Chamoli district administration officials said that aerial rescue is now impossible, given the continuance of the hostile climate, adding that once the weather clears rescue helicopters would be deployed to pull out the still- trapped workers. Meanwhile, all medical facilities have been made available at the Jyotirmath-based army-run health facility to treat the injured workers.
