CM vows to make Champawat a leading district of U’khand

In latest Uttarakhand news, while participating in a Raksha Bandhan programme held at the Ramlila Ground in Birgul in Champawat district, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami commended the role being played by the confident and self-reliant women community in the empowerment of the society. While reiterating his government’s commitment to carry on with women empowerment programmes in coming days, he lauded the all-women self-help groups for producing unique, aesthetically decorated items like rakhis made from pirul. While alluding to the launch of Mukhyamantri Sashakt Behna Utsav Yojana, he said that since this programme was launched, the products being brought to the market by the self-help groups are recording a massive spike in their sales. He claimed that such products worth over Rs 50 lakh have been sold. He further said that his government has been executing a host of projects in Champawat district to make it a developmentally leading district of the State. He referred to the adventure sports national competition slated to be held in Tanakpur in September. This would boost adventure tourism in the district, he said. He also announced that the higher secondary schools in Birgul would be upgraded to the intermediate level and several motor roads across the district would be asphalted.
