Cong attacks state govt for highest unemployment rate in country

The recent report of the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) on unemployment has given an opportunity to opposition Congress to attack the Uttarakhand government. In the report released on monday which is based on a 30 day moving average the CMIE has put the unemployment rate in Uttarakhand at 22.3 percent which is highest in the country. Launching a scathing attack on the state government, the Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress, Surya Kant Dhasmana said that the report has exposed the tall claims made by Trivendra Singh Rawat government on providing employment. On a sarcastic note, the Congress leader congratulated the Chief Minister for the unique feat of achieving first position in the survey report. “Though the state has lagged behind in providing education, development, health services and controlling spiralling prices, it has got top position in the country for unemployment. It is a big achievement for the state government,’’ he said.

The Congress leader said that the TSR government has not initiated a recruitment process in any of the departments to fill the vacant posts during its tenure. He claimed that no recruitment was done in police, health, forest, PWD, Jal Nigam or any department  by the BJP government. Dhasmana said that after this survey the CM now owes an explanation to the people of the state for his statement in which he had claimed that the unemployment rate is in minus (below zero) in the state. He said that the Congress party would make unemployment as a major issue and start a state-wide agitation on it.
