In view of the upcoming Char Dham Yatra and summer season as well as the patients’ complaints of unsatisfactory health facilities, a district Health department team led by the chief medical officer Dr B S Rawat visited the district hospital. During the inspection, the chief superintendent of the District Hospital Dr P S Pokhriyal and the nodal officer of Gangotri Dham Dr B S Pangti accompanied the CMO.
The CMO thoroughly inspected the ICU ward, medical ward, general ward, emergency ward, trauma centre, critical care unit, eye section, oxygen plant and pathology lab. He also interacted with the patients and their attendants.
The CMO stressed on ensuring adequate availability of life-saving medicines and medical equipment in the hospital. He also ordered the non-functional CCTV cameras be made functional soon and special attention be paid to cleanliness in the hospital.
He said that the District Hospital being a major stop for the health care of the pilgrims during the Gangotri Dham Yatra, the ambulance service should be made more active than before.
Instructions were also given to strengthen emergency services during the night hours. Stress also was laid on making arrangements to rush patients needing emergency services to the higher centres in the health department’s ambulances if the hospital ambulances are not available.
