CMOs to monitor functioning of PPP mode hospitals

Tuesday, 05 July 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

Tightening the screws on the functioning of the hospitals working under public private partnership (PPP) mode, the Uttarakhand government has directed the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) to monitor their work.

A decision regarding this was taken by the Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat in his meeting with the officers of the health department on Monday. In the meeting held for the review of the hospitals working under PPP mode, the local MLAs were also present. The minister said that the CMO concerned and the CMS of the hospital would monitor the functioning of the PPP mode hospitals. He said that the CMOs would have the power to issue notice to the agencies operating the hospital under PPP mode.

In the meeting the MLAs expressed displeasure on the fact that instead of permanent appointments, the doctors are posted on a system of rotation in the hospitals under PPP Mode. In the meeting the minister directed that the names, qualification and specialisation of the doctors deployed in these hospitals would be displayed for public convenience. They also complained they are not provided information about the rotation of the mobile medical units operated by the hospitals under PPP mode at block levels. On this the minister directed that the plan of these mobile health units should be decided in consultation with the local MLA.

The meeting was attended by the chairperson of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Dr Geeta Khanna, MLAs Diwan Singh Bisht, Dilip Singh Rawat, Kishore Upadhyaya, Vinod Kandari, Shakti Lal Sah, Brij Bhushan Gairola, Pramod Nainwal, Rajkumar Pori, secretary health Radhika Jha, mission director NHM Sonika, Director General (DG) health, Dr Shailja Bhatt, the CMSs of the hospitals under PPP mode and others.
