Even as voices of dissent are being raised in the Bharatiya Janata Party from various constituencies following ticket allocation for the Assembly election, Dinesh Arya, who had worked as the chief minister’s public relations officer along with Kamla Arya and Prakash Arya said that the party’s choice in Nainital has deeply disappointed party workers. Dinesh Arya said that Sarita Arya being fielded from Nainital shortly after defecting from the Congress has dented the morale of the dedicated BJP workers who are also feeling hurt. He said that after discussion one of them- Dinesh Arya, Kamla Arya and Prakash Arya may contest the election as an independent candidate from Nainital. He said that many party workers had been preparing for the past five years to contest the Assembly polls. However, the party chose a defector from the Congress as its candidate. Stating that he will not support the BJP candidate in Nainital, he said that he will leave the party before January 28 and contest the election as an independent candidate. “At the last minute the last MLA Sanjeev Arya resigned and returned to the Congress. Since then the BJP workers had been stressing that defectors should not be fielded by the party. However, the central and state leadership of the party ignored the views of the workers. I have been seeking the party ticket consistently since 2002 and have been connected with the party organisation as a dedicated worker while also remaining among the public and preparing for the election. One of us three should have been given the ticket and we would have won the election but a defector was given the ticket at the last minute,” said Dinesh Arya.
