Coaching centers hope lie on resumption of physical classes in schools
The coaching centres will revive fully only when the physical classes resume in schools. This was stated by the owners of coaching centres who opined that the operation of the coaching centres in the State depends on the number of students joining physical classes in schools.
Despite the State Government’s approval to operate coaching centres from November last year, the operators of such centres are still waiting for the students to join classes. “Hardly any students are coming for physical coaching classes since March. We are providing online coaching classes too but most of the students prefer physical interaction with teachers. Since the new academic year will start from April, the students will probably join after that only,” said Pankaj Kumar Samrat of Alpha Beta Gamma Academy in Dehradun. The chief executive officer (CEO) of Achievers Classes, Manu Pant also stated that most of the parents are terrified to send their children to schools due to the risk of Covid-19 contagion and sending them for coaching classes is definitely not their priority. According to him, when the parents will be confident enough to send their children to schools, they will send them coaching centres too.
Moreover, Ankit Singh from Allen Career Institute, who will start their coaching classes in Dehradun from February, stated that they are definitely getting positive response from those students who want to prepare for JEE and NEET examination but the number of school students approaching for classes are still low. However, the operators of the coaching centres are optimistic that the students will join classes from the new academic year as by then, the State Government would have administered vaccine or at least will commence the vaccination process against Covid-19 for local residents too.
