Cold wave forecast in plains today

Even as various high altitude areas in the mountainous districts received snowfall, the state meteorological centre has issued an alert regarding the possibility of cold wave at isolated places in the plains especially in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts on Friday. Dry weather is likely to prevail in districts of the state while shallow fog/fog is likely to occur in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Ground frost is likely to occur at a few places in the mountains and at isolated places in the plains. Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear skies with mist likely during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 21 degrees Celsius and five degrees Celsius respectively.
Meanwhile the cold has continued in the mountainous regions. Rain and snowfall is being experienced in Bageshwar district since Tuesday night. The mountain villages of Kapkot are covered in snow. Farmers are happy with the rain and snowfall as it will benefit the Ravi and apple crop. While Bageshwar valley experienced rain since Tuesday night, high altitude areas received snowfall till Wednesday morning. There has been heavy snowfall in various parts of the district. Similarly, snowfall has been reported in the high altitude areas of various mountainous districts.
