In an effort to improve health services for patients, the colour doppler machine has recently become operational at the radiology department of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC). Informing about this, the deputy medical superintendent at GDMC Dr NS Bisht informed that, due to the initiative of the outsourcing company, the machine is now functioning in the radiology department located in the outpatient department building.

He said that this machine has been examining approximately six to seven patients in the department. Bisht emphasised that this equipment will be immensely beneficial for both patients and doctors, as it allows for the identification of arterial issues and the prompt detection of any blockages in the veins.

He further said that, in addition to this, funds will be saved, as private laboratories usually impose significant fees for colour doppler tests. In contrast, the tests at GDMC will be performed at the rates established by the CGHs. He emphasised that private laboratories charge an average of Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,500 for these tests. Additionally, he stated that the colour doppler service will be provided free of charge to patients registered under the Ayushman scheme.

It will be recalled that the hospital administration continually strives to enhance the healthcare services available to patients. In pursuit of this goal, the administration, in collaboration with the outsourcing company assisting the hospital’s radiology department, has previously decided to install a colour doppler machine. The administration further aims to implement this machine to enable patients to receive testing on-site, thereby eliminating the necessity to visit private laboratories for such services.
