After receiving 2,000 coloured bed sheets from the manufacturing company, the administration of Deen Dayal Upadhyay district hospital has started the system of changing the bed sheets in the patient wards. Stating this, the medical superintendent Dr VS Chauhan said that Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat recently directed all government hospitals in the State to adopt a regular practice of changing bed linens in inpatient wards. Further, it has been advised that hospital management utilise differently coloured bed linens each day. In accordance with the directives from the Health minister and following the clarification from the Health department, the administration procured 2,000 bed sheets in various colours for the patient wards.

He further informed that the hospital has implemented the new bed sheet protocols following receipt of the bed sheets. The administration is systematically spreading the coloured bed sheets according to the days of the week, in alignment with the prescribed guidelines. According to these directions, a white bedsheet will be placed in the ward on Monday, pink on Tuesday, green on Wednesday, yellow on Thursday, light blue on Friday, dark blue on Saturday and light grey on Sunday. These coloured bed sheets are being used in all patient wards, including the ICU, emergency department and others. Additionally, he said that these bed sheets will undergo regular laundry maintenance.

It will be recalled that the goal of this initiative is to regularly change the bed sheets according to the designated colours for each day, which will help maintain hygiene for the patients and enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the hospital. Apart from this, earlier Chauhan further informed that the administration is planning to purchase two sets of bed sheets in each colour. Considering this, the administration will first evaluate the quality of the received bed sheets before ordering additional sets.
