341 Indian and 84 Foreign Gentlemen Cadets to pass out from the academy on June 12
The commandant’s parade which marked the culmination of training of 341 Indian and 84 Gentlemen Cadets from nine friendly foreign countries of spring term, 2021 was organised at Chetwode drill square of the Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Thursday.
The prevailing pandemic of Covid -19 prevented the parents and others from attending the ceremony. In their absence only the IMA staff and other trainees witnessed the impressive Parade. The commandant of the IMA, Lieutenant General Harinder Singh was the reviewing officer (RO) of the parade.
In his address, the IMA commandant told the cadets that the Army’s reputation rests firmly on their shoulders. He said that the GCs have earned this honour with hard work and they need to retain it by living up to the Army’s core values of character, competence, commitment and compassion. The General Officer said, “I wish to acknowledge and compliment you for your commitment to serve the nation and uphold the legacy of an unbroken chain of heroes and patriots. There are no guaranteed successes in the profession of arms, but unquestionable integrity will certainly tilt the odds in your favour. Courage, physical and moral, must be evident in your actions and decision.’’
The commandant also extended his compliments to the 84 Gentleman Cadets from nine friendly foreign countries. “The strong bond of togetherness that you have developed in IMA shall foster into a bond that will keep the diplomatic and military ties between our nations stronger and vibrant. Soon, you will become a part of your great traditional armies. I am confident that the spirit of the Indian Military Academy will guide all of you in your future courses of action. You must always endeavor to achieve greatness in whatever you do,’’ he said.
In the end, he encouraged the GCs to put their best foot forward for the final Passing out Parade (PoP) and wished all the GCs the very best in the years ahead.
