Commissioner Garhwal holds meeting on char dham yatra

The Commissioner Garhwal Division Sushil Kumar held a meeting in Rishikesh on the upcoming Char Dham Yatra with the district magistrates, senior police and other officials of the districts concerned and asked them to complete preparations for the pilgrimage at the earliest. He also reviewed the progress of the works done since he had held the last meeting. He insisted that all works must be completed much before the start of the char dham pilgrimage. The darshan token system being introduced by the state tourism department was also demonstrated during the meeting.
Referring to the importance of the char dham yatra, the Sushil Kumar said that all should work in the spirit of a team through cooperation and coordination. He further said that as the experiences of the pilgrims were positive last year it is very much possible that the number of the char dham pilgrims would increase this year. He said the number of pilgrims who had done the pilgrimage in the four shrines was 46 lakh last year, a record, adding that in view of the possibility of the number increasing this year, it is necessary to regulate the pilgrims’ movements. This is why the offline and online registration arrangements have been made. He stressed on proper accommodation of the pilgrims, good condition of the roads, disaster management systems being put into place, health facilities being made and registration of the horses/ mules.
