Offers tributes to martyrs on 27th anniversary of Khatima shooting
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar district on Thursday where he paid tributes to the martyrs of the statehood movement. A programme was organised to mark the 27th anniversary of the Khatima incident of 1994 in which seven statehood activists were killed in police firing.
Paying tributes to the martyrs, the CM said that the State government is committed to make a prosperous and progressive Uttarakhand as per the dreams of the statehood martyrs. Dhami felicitated the family members of the martyrs on the occasion. He said that similar programmes would be organised every year to ensure that the contribution of the martyrs is always remembered. He said that the country is celebrating the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and more than 60,000 programmes have been organised in the country so far. He said that work on a fast pace on rail, road and air connectivity is going on in the State under the leadership of PM Modi. He claimed that the State government is working in a transparent manner and is following the mantra of ‘simplification, solution and disposal’ in the governance. The government has kept Mondays as no meeting days for the officers so that they can meet the general public and has started a helpline 1064 against corruption. Dhami said that all district level officers have been directed to meet the general public from 10 am to 12 from Monday to Friday.
Dhami said that his government would ensure that the foundation stone of the schemes or projects announced is done without delay. Listing the developmental activities undertaken in Khatima, the CM said that construction of CSD canteen, roadways bus stand, metalling of roads, Khatima by pass and Crocodile Park are some of these projects.
The union minister of state for tourism and defence Ajay Bhatt also paid rich tributes to the martyrs and said that everyone is standing with the families of the martyrs. He said that Uttarakhand owes its origin to the sacrifices made by the statehood activists. The chairman of the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation Kailash Gehtodi, MLA Shiv Arora, Statehood activist Kashi Singh Airy, Daan Singh Rawat, former MLA Prem Singh Rana, the district magistrate of US Nagar Yugal Kishore Pant, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manjunath TC and others were present on the occasion.
