Committee to be formed to expedite tourism schemes: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that a committee will be formed under secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram to expedite schemes related to tourism in order to boost tourism activities in the State. Officials of the finance, housing, public works department, police, pollution control board and other departments concerned will be members of this committee. Dhami said this while speaking as the chief guest at a round table discussion on accelerating investment in the hospitality sector in Uttarakhand organised by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) here on Tuesday.

The chief minister said that Uttarakhand provides the guarantee of safe investment to investors.The State government is working to provide all possible assistance to investors. He said that the State government is aiming to make Uttarakhand among the best in the tourism sector in the next five years. Dhami said that the suggestions received for enhancing tourism possibilities will be incorporated in future work plans. All possible attempts will be made to resolve the problems communicated by the stakeholders related to the tourism sector, he said. Dhami said that the State government is working with the motto of simplification, solution and satisfaction. He said that there are immense possibilities in the tourism sector of Uttarakhand, adding that air, road and rail connectivity are being enhanced at a swift pace in the State. The tourism policy has been implemented in the State in order to encourage tourism activities.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi he said that the PM had said that this decade will be that of Uttarakhand’s. The State government is working to make Uttarakhand a leading State in all spheres by 2025. All the departments have been told to prepare roadmaps for the next 10 years. Dhami said that an interaction will be held with those connected to the tourism sector after three months.Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram said that government policies will be simplified for the investors. This will make it easier for investors to invest in the State’s tourism sector. Tourism secretary Dilip Jawalkar while tourism increases the State’s revenue it also provides employment opportunities to a considerable number of people. There are unlimited possibilities for investment in the sector after tourism was accorded industry status.
