Complain in MCD about irregularity in fogging in wards: Goyal

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has provided all the required material and machinery to all councillors but if people still observe irregular fogging, they can approach the corporation with complaints, said the municipal commissioner Manuj Goyal. Several cases of dengue have surfaced in the city in the past few weeks considering which, the corporation has made a plan to minimise the risk, especially in the vulnerable areas of the city. MCD has also formed a team of 20 members to work for the prevention of dengue in the city.
However, locals of many wards have claimed that fogging is not being done regularly in their respective areas as it was being done last year. They said that considering the risk of the spread of dengue, the MCD should have increased the fogging but it has rather decreased this year. According to some municipal officials, fogging which is being done directly through MCD is being carried out regularly but respective councillors are not carrying out the fogging process despite providing all necessary material. Talking about the issue, the municipal commissioner told The Pioneer that MCD has provided all the material including the solution of diesel and chemical used for fogging along with machineries, and the solutions cannot be used for any other purposes.
This makes it very unlikely that councillors are going to use these for some other activities. “If people of certain areas observe that fogging is not being done there, they can complain to the corporation because it is difficult to take action on random and generic claims. We have made all the arrangements and we will ensure all measures are being taken in every ward of the city for dengue prevention,” added Goyal.
