Tuesday 26 April 2022 | PNS | Dehradun
The chief secretary Sukhbir Singh Sandhu has directed officials concerned to first fix the deadline for various works related to the renovation and beautification in Mussoorie and then ensure that the deadline is met. Sandhu issued these directions while chairing a meeting to review the progress of the renovation and beautification works here on Monday.
He directed officials of the Public Works Department that before undertaking road construction works, coordination should be established with Pejyal Nigam, Jal Sansthan and the UPCL so that the road do not have to be dug up again. He said that scrapping and re-asphaltisation of the roads should be undertaken in patches as digging up the entire road at once causes major inconvenience to the local residents and tourists. The chief secretary further said that toilets should be established every 500 metres while signage and other aspects should also be facilitated so that the locals and tourists do not have to face inconvenience. Directing the officials to take special care to ensure that tourists do not face any inconvenience during the peak season, Sandhu said that different dates should be fixed for the works depending on their nature and with the aim of completing them within the shortest period possible. While focusing on completing the works soon, there should not be any compromise with the quality of the work, he added.
The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) vice chairman Brijesh Kumar Sant and Urban Development secretary Vinod Kumar Suman along with other departmental officials concerned were also present in the meeting.
