Complete Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project on time: CM

Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat directed officials of the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) to expedite work on the ambitious Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line project. He said that the rail line construction which is slated to be completed by 2024 should be completed on time. The chief minister said this while chairing a meeting to review progress in the project here on Tuesday. Addressing the officials, Rawat said that all the required assistance needed from the state government will be provided to expedite work on the project.
The RVNL chief project manager Himanshu Badoni informed that 12 stations and 17 tunnels are being constructed on the 125 kilometre Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line. The construction of 12 kilometres of approach road to 10 work sites has been completed to speed up the work on the main tunnels. Work on six out of seven edit tunnels has also been completed. He further informed that 18 large and 36 small bridges are being constructed in this project. The constructionof Chandrabhaga bridge has been completed while work on the remaining bridges is underway. The target has been set to complete their construction by March 2024. In addition to this the RVNL is also constructing a hospital building in Srinagar, toilet block at Haridwar railway station, road bridge at Gauchar and Kaleshwar and a stadium at Srikot in Srinagar, he added.
The CM’s chief advisor Shatrughna Singh, secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram and other officials were also present in the meeting.
