Complete Smart City project works by June: Agarwal

Urban Development minister Prem Chand Agarwal directed officials to complete the smart road, sewerage and drainage works being executed under the Smart City project by June. Reviewing the project with officials on Thursday, he expressed satisfaction at the execution of the project so far.
The minister noted that 16 projects had been completed in 10 wards of Dehradun city under the Smart City project. These include construction of seven smart toilets, three smart schools, crèche building and construction of modern Doon library in addition to which 30 electric buses are also operating in the city. He said that 24 smart water ATMs have been established and one national flagpole has been erected at Dilaram Chowk. Further, 120 smart waste vehicles have been handed over to the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun and Jal Sansthan. Stating that the project works on Parade Ground and Paltan Bazaar have been completed, he said that the work of installing smart water metres is nearly complete. Work on the smart road, sewerage and drainage is being carried out at a swift pace, he said, while directing officials of the executing agencies to complete these works by June this year. Agarwal directed project officials to ensure quality of work while also completing the tasks on time. He noted that delay in approval to standards for construction of the green building under the project had caused a delay in this work, while directing officials to complete this project. Stating that Char Dham Yatra is about to resume in the near future, he stressed that the Smart City project works should be completed on time. Dehradun Smart City Limited CEO and Dehradun district magistrate Sonika and other officials were present in the meeting.
