The chief secretary SS Sandhu directed the officials concerned to soon complete the work of expansion and establishment of Gau Sadans in the State to provide shelter to stray cattle. He asked them to set a deadline for the timely completion of all work and ensure those get finished in the stipulated time. He stated this in a meeting held at the Secretariat on Wednesday with officials of the urban development directorate regarding the expansion and construction works of Gau Sadans.
He said that all local bodies should focus on the timely completion of Gau Sadan related works. He said that the departments concerned should also prepare a detailed project report to present to the State administration. The officials must include all main points in the report including land identification and marking for construction of Gau Sadans in districts.
He said that a provision to set up a budget for the construction and expansion of cow shelters should also be made in the district plan. Sandhu said that the bodies involved in handling stray cattle across the State should ensure that cattle are being transported properly to the cow shelters. He directed the officials to ensure the proper arrangement of hydraulic vehicles to transport animals to Gau Sadans.
