The vice president of Uttarakhand Mahila Congress, Asha Manorama Dobariyal Sharma has demanded that the passports of Prajwal Revanna and his father HD Revanna should be suspended. She submitted memoranda addressed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs minister S Jaishankar on the issue. In the memorandum mailed to the PM, Sharma said, “Mass rapist Revanna is your associate, your family. In your election speeches you had sought votes for Revanna. Your speeches are making women uncomfortable,’’ she said.
Sharma said that BJP leader Devraje Gowda had informed about the cases related to sexual harassment of Revanna to PM, Home minister and the BJP president JP Nadda in December 2023 but the BJP leadership ignored these charges and supported Revanna. She demanded that the PM should apologise to the country on the issue as the image of the country has been sullied.
The Congress leader submitted the memorandum addressed to Jaishankar to the passport officer of Dehradun. She said that Revanna fled to Germany after the FIR was registered against him. Sharma said without the approval and tactic understanding of ministry of foreign affairs it was impossible for an accused of mass rape to flee from the country. She said that action should be taken against the officers involved in the passage of Revanna to Germany.
