The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has accused the State government of double standards on the issue of VIP darshan in the Char Dhams. He said that the chief secretary of Uttarakhand had issued an order in which a ban was imposed on VIP darshan in the first 15 days of the Yatra. However, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid no heed to the order of his own government and attended the portal opening ceremony of Kedarnath shrine on Friday.
He said that double standards have always remained the character of BJP governments. “The BJP has one rule for the country and people and another for its own leaders. They are free to break any rule,’’ he said. Continuing his criticism of the BJP leaders, the PCC president said that by getting his pictures clicked in the Garbhagraha of Kedarnath temple Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not only breached the regulations but also hurt religious sentiments during his last visit.
In a statement Mahara also congratulated the people of the State on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya and opening of portals of Kedarnath.
