The Congress party has submitted a complaint to the Election Commission of India (ECI) in which it has accused the ruling BJP of seeking votes in the name of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
In a complaint submitted to the Chief Election Commissioner of India the member of the Congress State election committee Amarjeet Singh said on April 19, when the polling was in progress in Uttarakhand, the BJP in its official social media accounts carried the pictures of Lord Ram in Ayodhya to appeal to the people to vote for the BJP candidates. Singh also submitted the screenshots of the BJP’s posts on social media in which the pictures of Lord Ram were used with messages ‘Modi’s guarantees, today truth and future’s guarantee’ and “Aapke ek vote ki takat, ek bar fir Modi sarkar’’ (power of your one vote and once again Modi government).
Singh said that the BJP is consistently using religion in the ongoing LS elections which is a violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) enforced in the State in view of the elections. He demanded that action should be taken against the BJP for MCC violations.
