Maharaaz had assured govt contracts to BJP workers- Cong

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has taken a strong exception to the recent statement of cabinet minister Satpal Maharaaz in which he had promised contracts to BJP workers in his department. He said that the statement of the minister has exposed the mindset of the BJP. The PCC president said that the minister in his endeavor to assuage the hurt sentiments of the party workers had promised that the department would reduce the size of contracts so that party workers are awarded contracts. “This is nothing less than offering a bribe to the disgruntled party workers ahead of the assembly elections. The statement of the minister is very unfortunate,’’ he said.

The Congress leader questioned that when the contracts would be awarded to BJP workers then what is the need to float tenders?

Launching an attack on the BJP government of Uttarakhand the PCC president said that in last four and half years it has acted in a partisan manner. He said that the unemployment rate which was at 1.30 percent during the Congress rule has increased to 11 percent in Uttarakhand. “It would have been better had the minister talked about ways of generating employment and policies. The statement of Maharaaz is like rubbing salt on the wounds of the unemployed youth,’’ he said.

The PCC president added that the statement of the minister indicate that the BJP leadership has understood that a big defeat in the assembly elections of 2022 is staring at its face.

Pritam Singh also questioned the statement of Maharaaz in which he had talked about an international airport in Haridwar. He said that the double engine government of the Uttarakhand  don’t has the money to pay for the salaries of its employees and its ministers are making castles in the air to impress the people of the state. The PCC president also took a dig at lack of coordination among the ministers of Tirath Singh Rawat’s cabinet.
