The Uttarakhand Congress has alleged that the district administration of Dehradun has refused to grant permission to the party for organising a programme of Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge on January 28 at the Parade Ground. The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Suryakant Dhasmana said that a written permission for allowing a programme on Parade Ground was sought from the district magistrate on which she expressed her inability to grant permission. He said that the State leadership of Congress also contacted the Urban Development minister on the issue but nothing happened. Dhasmana said that when Congress governments were in State and Centre then permission to BJP was given on multiple occasions to hold meetings on Parade Ground.
He alleged that the district administration is working under pressure from the State government on the issue. Dhasmana said that it appears that the BJP has imposed an undeclared emergency in the country and the nation is heading towards dictatorship. He alleged that the BJP governments are working on a modus operandi to deny the Congress to organise meetings and hold programmes. Dhasmana said that on January 22 Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was denied entry in a temple and his programme in a university on January 23 was cancelled by putting pressure on the university administration. He said the manner in which the Yatra of Rahul Gandhi was stopped in Guwahati and the Congress workers were lathi charged shows that the BJP has become frightened by the huge response the Yatra is eliciting from the general public.
